Being Bumfuzzled ... Part Four

TWISTED TURN
TWISTED TURN

"I have always been fascinated by storms, big storms, especially since I grew up in Arkansas' tornado alley."

"Being Bumfuzzled" has been about my quest to change a perception.  It is a journey, I think, that many artists traverse as others pretend to be experts and think they can speak on your behalf, usually with disastrous consequences.

But lets back to the sunny side of positive.  The location I am highlighting in this blog post has been one of my favorites for over a year.  We started our journey together when they had the vision to be an involved, community-focused real estate firm and wanted to showcase local artists in their open gallery spaces.  Together, we developed the concept and created The Gallery at Midtown Associates, which is curated and managed by my company, Red Cat Art LLC.  In addition to my art, we have exhibited area artists of international reknown who have exhibition backgrounds across the globe and within numerous museums.

The current art rotation just happens to be my solo exhibition in the continuing series of Atmospheric Abstracts, with the title "A Twisted Turn."  I have always been fascinated by storms, big storms, especially since I grew up in Arkansas' tornado alley.  My fascination has now traveled to the canvas and I'm exploring the twists and turns of weather, both violent and calm.  This series is also allowing me to investigate how vapor in the atmosphere creates new colors, especially the yellow-green skies that appear right before a tornado ...when you grow up in a tornado alley, you learn to take heed when the skies turn green, even when there is not a cloud in the sky!

Without further ado, Part Four will now introduce you to the fourth local space where I exhibit and sell my art:

These are fun, serious, educational and insightful. The art world can be a roller coaster of emotions but worth it. You are truly a treasure to our community. In fact I nominate you for the first NWA Art Treaure award for 2017!

A golden thread in the fabric of our community. Endless generosity, smarts, and talent.

Bring on the sash and crown please!

Thank you for sharing your insights, pain and exhibits! I had no idea what was going on, I am sorry to hear that you have been hurt, however I consider it a huge success that you have "haters" that means you are doing something so very right! How exciting to be exhibited in 4 locations! Your art is fabulous and inspiring! Thank you for pouring your heart out onto canvases each day, I appreciate your efforts!

It has been an honor to work with you this past year at the Midtown Gallery. You have been such a patient teacher, loyal friend and truly inspirational woman. I am sorry that you have had some negative comments and actions aimed toward you. Even though we know it is a sign of success when others are "attacking" you it still hurts and drains energy. Thank you for letting me in your tribe...it has truly enriched my life. Thank you for selflessly promoting art in our community in a way that is not intimidating but inviting instead.

Thank you, ladies, for your beautiful comments! Each of you are special and important people in the growth of the arts in Northwest Arkansas. I look forward to collaborative and exciting adventures with each of you! Cheers!
