Being Bumfuzzled .... Part One

KINGS RIVER
KINGS RIVER

Yesterday, I posted on social media that I was bumfuzzled.  Yes, bumfuzzled.  It is a word I heard constantly while growing up.  It means being perplexed, in a state of puzzlement, caught off guard by someone's or something's action.  I could have used stronger language, but I decided to be a lady, southern lady, in fact, and tone it down.  I think I just wanted to use the word bumfuzzle.

So why the bumfuzzlement?

I live in a rapidly changing area called Northwest Arkansas.  It is a wonderfully lush, green, watery world of Ozark hills and clear running rivers.  You can do about every outdoor sport here, except snow ski (years ago, an intrepid entrepeneur did set up a ski resort with fake snow called Marble Falls, but that is another story for another day!)  We are one of the fastest growing MSAs in the country and with it comes change, uneasiness, population density never before seen, and opportunity.  We are a quirky little corner of the world, where hillbilly legends thrive and people create really big somethings out of of small town entrepreneurship.  Yes, I live in Bentonville, home of Walmart, Crystal Bridges Museum of Art, Brightwater Culinary School, and more to come!  Just down the road are the headquarters for Tyson Foods, JB Hunt, and home of the Arkansas Razorbacks at the University of Arkansas, which just received a $120 million gift from the Walton Family to establish a School of Art (not just a department, a separate SCHOOL!)

And in this changing environment, artists of all disciplines are trying to make their mark, including me.  I grew up here, when Northwest Arkansas was known, and still is, for large scale outdoor arts and crafts fairs.  But that is not for everyone, so all manner of art galleries and art coalitions are springing up around the region.  And that brings new challenges and opportunities.  And, I guess, not everyone wants to share.  Thus, the bumfuzzlement, because someone or some group has decided to make my business their business and spread the word that I don't exhibit outside the gallery space that I curate (Gallery at Midtown Associates).  They have wasted a good year and more on such activity.  I've tried to ignore, but now I need to be more proactive. Such a waste of valuable energy and time.

So, first up I will share that I currently have exhibited in 10 different spaces in Northwest Arkansas over the last year, plus a few months.  Some were limited time exhibitions, some are full-time, many have been solo exhibits.  Right now I will focus on current exhibitions.  Today's featured space is:

Rockin' Baker

3761 N Mall Avenue

Fayetteville, Arkansas

Solo Exhibition Through September 18, 2017

Small works from the Atmospheric Abstracts Collection

So check it out, folks!  And while you are there, ask owner, Daymara Baker about

the mission of her bakery.  She does so much more than bake a pretty loaf of bread.

I'm honored to be asked to be associated with a business that gives so much back to her community!

Until next time, with another exhibition location...

Peace, Love, And Serve Your Community!

Jaquita
