Throw out the Rolodex!

Rainstorm #3
Three months into 2016 and the new year's resolutions have not been written yet. Can you believe it? Well, I can. There has been a mountain of change for this little family of mine for the past three years. Moving back to Northwest Arkansas from New Mexico, buying a lot to build a new house and studio, selling said lot and not building a new house and studio, finding a little house to rent for a studio that is 40 minutes from home, caring for a disabled parent, both parents leaving this earthly realm for heaven, buying and renovating a house built in 1902 in downtown Bentonville, Arkansas, getting rid of so many personal treasures of ours and my parents in order to downsize, deciding to ramp up the art licensing of my business, selling home of 13 years and moving into the Victorian while renovation continues.
Which means after three years, I finally threw away that antiquated Rolodex. Unfortunately, for this artist that easily gets distracted, I had to spend thirty minutes going through it. Why, I don't know. Maybe to tell myself that it was okay (the names and numbers had not been updated in six years)? Justify my action? Have a good answer in case someone asked me why I would do that? That Rolodex turned out to be a symbol of what has been happening in my personal and professional life.
Lately, there have been questions of why the change in style. Of art. Of home. Of where I live and why I wanted to move. Of the urge to wander. Do you need me to justify who I am in order to engage in my art? I don't know. Maybe you do. And that is more than fine. I want you to understand my art, interact, enjoy the experience.
What I do know is that "this me" has always been there. And that is the justification.
So when will you throw out your Rolodex?
In art and adventure,
Jaquita
